Our long-standing commitment to Somaliland began with our game-changing introduction of Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Somaliland public schools. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, we contributed to the creation of the national ECE curriculum. Meanwhile, in the words of our founder, in a place like Somaliland, ‘With climate change accelerating, without water there is death’, hence we have built multiple water scarcity solutions, particularly our distinctive dams with plastic geomembranes. Similarly, vulnerability to climate change exposes Somaliland to significant obstacles to agricultural productivity, which our smallholder farmer programme seeks to address. Finally, health is our latest venture in the country, where we have just initiated a non-communicable disease programme.

Pharo Foundation’s water development program in Somaliland builds rainwater harvesting infrastructure that provides access to sufficient water throughout the year for a district’s targeted communities.

Pharo Foundation’s Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program aims to develop the technical skills of Somaliland youth aged 18 to 30 years old.

By improving access to diagnostic services, we aim to reduce the premature mortality and increased morbidity associated with non-communicable diseases.
